Welcome back to another Top 5 Wednesday. The topic for this week is Non-Horror Books that Scared You.

So, my top 5 for this topic this week as going to be a bit surprising, so let me explain. This year has been intensely busy for me, so finding time to read has been a struggle. Therefore, audio books have been my friend lately. I think I’ve listened to over 20 audiobooks for far in 2017. Also, most of the time I ‘read’ is before bed, so with audiobooks now, I can even turn of the lights, close my eyes and put my headphones in and listen until I fall asleep (thank goodness for sleep timers). So, with that being said you can see why my imagination got the best of me with some of these titles.

13-reasons-why

1) Thirteen Reasons Why

So, yes, this isn’t a scary book. But you trying listening to it on audiable. You instantly feel like you ARE Clay listening in Hannah’s tapes. And the parts of the guy hiding out of her room, ya, I got a bit creeped out listening at 1 am. Read My Review to get a full understanding of this intensity.

2) The Haunting of Sunshine Girl

OK. Maybe this one it a little bit more believable. Is this “horror”, no. But it is creepy. And again try listening to it late at night on audiables.

3) Shatter Me

If you have read ths book, you will agree it just written creepily with all the scratched out words. Well translate that to an audiobook – yes, they actually play the scratching sounds. So, this is actually super creepy to listen to late at night. Disclaimer: I haven’t gotten the guts to finish this one yet.

4) The Testing Series

This again is a book I listened to, and some of the parts legitimate made me paranoid late at night. The first book’s final test… the entire third book. Just thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies.

5) Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children

This one I did not listen too, but when I originally read it I lived in a creepy old duplex in Milwaukee, which made it that much worse. I remember reading late at night and when I put it down to go to bed, I got the “cant  have my feet sticking out of the covers or monsters will eat them’ mindset.
