Prophecy Review

The Legacy Series Book 2
by Ellery Kane

The Legacy Series is alive and well. I take back any hesitation I had over this series from my review of LEGACY. Ellery Kane’s captivating sequel to LEGACY is a novel that truly delivers – with suspense, mystery, deviance, secrets, betrayal, kidnapping and heartache perceived through a fearless heroine, an acceptance-seeking friend, a devoted son, a struggling father, an outsider, and a trusty dog. PROPHECY takes the Legacy Series to a new height – a series too mind-bending and stirring to be missed.

I was extremely glad to see Lex more independent in this book. Kicking ass and taking names WITHOUT QUIN. I really connected with Lex is this book from love to heartbreak to fear and accomplishment. Kane really took the time to develop Lex this time around where I could really relate to her. String, a new character absolutely stole my heart – although I still don’t know if I can trust him. String’s and Lex’s interactions throughout the story made this book what it is. I don’t think I would fell in love with PROPHECY as much as I did without String.

I said it before, I didn’t really have the biggest love for Quin. And I am actually glad that this book was about 80% Quin free – although semi-heavily on his father. I don’t know what it is about Quin, I just don’t really care for him. Quin and the tattoo girl can go off and live happily ever after. All I need is Lex, String, Max, Artos, and Edison. However, without a lot about Q in this book, I do feel I gained a tiny bit more love for him than I had in the last book – you know what they say, “absence makes the heart grow fonder”.

Update: The dog still doesn’t die. (Ellery, please don’t kill him) When I thought Kane was about to kill off Artos, I was ready to throw the book across the room. But no fear. He is still alive and barking!

I can’t wait for Ellery’s conclusion to the story, REVELATION. NOTE: If Revelation is already available when you go to buy Prophecy, buy both. You won’t be able to handle the torture I am going through right now waiting for the my questions to be answered.

Overview

prophecy book review

The un-put-downable saga continues in Prophecy, the second book of Ellery Kane’s Legacy trilogy…

Over a year has passed since Lex Knightley journeyed alone into desolate San Francisco. The Guardian Force is disbanded, emotion-altering drugs banned, and citizens allowed to return to the seemingly resurrected city. For Lex, life is almost normal, but normal is precarious. Normal has a way of falling apart.

One rainy night changes everything. Out on parole, Quin McAllister’s father is arrested for the brutal murder of his new wife. As the Resistance resurges, claiming a conspiracy, Lex doesn’t know what-or who-to believe. When old enemies resurface in new disguises and trusted friends start keeping secrets, normal splits right down the middle, leaving Lex and Quin on opposite sides.

Prophecy-the second novel of Ellery Kane’s Legacy trilogy-continues the story of Lex and Quin, testing the strength of friendship, forgiveness, and love.

ellery-kaneAbout the Author

Forensic psychologist by day, young-adult novelist by night, Ellery Kane has been writing–professionally and creatively–for as long as she can remember. Just like her main character, Lex, Ellery loves to ask why, which is the reason she became a psychologist in the first place. Real life really is stranger than fiction, and Ellery’s writing is often inspired by her day job. Evaluating violent criminals and treating trauma victims, she has gained a unique perspective on the past and its indelible influence on the individual. An avid short story writer as a teenager, Ellery recently began writing for enjoyment again, and the Legacy series was born. Ellery’s debut novel, Legacy, has received several awards, including winning the Gold Medal in the Independent Publisher Book Awards, young adult, e-book category.

I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.
